Snickerdoodles

These yummy cookies are soft in the center and crispy on the edges with cinnamon and sugar in every bite!

They store and carry well and make a very large batch.

Perfect for a "Thank You" or a "Get Well" in a cute etched jar.

Here's the recipe...

Snickerdoodles
(printable version)

Ingredients:

1/2 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup shortening
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 eggs, slightly beaten + (1 teaspoon vanilla, opt.)
2 3/4 cup flour
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt

2 tablespoons sugar + 2 teaspoons cinnamon (combine in a small bowl and set aside.)

Directions:

Cream butter, shortening and sugar together; add eggs and mix.  Sift flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt together; add to creamed mixture and blend well.  Shape dough by rounded teaspoon into balls.  Roll balls in cinnamon/sugar mixture.  Place on ungreased cookie sheet 2" apart.  Flatten with bottom of glass dipped in sugar.  Bake 8-10 minutes in preheated 400 degree oven.  Makes about 6 dozen.
