Here are a few of the projects I've been working on! First of all, I want to say that I do not consider myself a crafty person and in fact I don't especially like the word "crafts". This word conjures up an image of a little old lady with a cross stitch sampler sitting in a rocking chair. That is SO not me -- at least not yet... ;) The other association I have with the word "crafts" comes from my childhood Sunday school class. This memory involves construction paper, scissors, and a lot of Elmer's glue and is definitely not something that I would love to waste long hours of my life doing! Thankfully, the word "crafts" has taken on a whole new meaning for me after being inspired by some of the amazing ideas seen on these crafty blogs mentioned below! Here is my version of some of the awesome ideas that I found...
I found the inspiration for this framed chalkboard here. Instead of using foam board as suggested in the tutorial, I used the original glass from the picture frame. I also found chalkboard spray paint which was cheaper and easier to use than chalkboard paint in a can. This was super simple to make and cost very little money out of pocket. I plan on using my leftover spray paint for clay pots to plant herbs in this spring. :)
The idea for the wooden letters came from a tutorial on this blog. I used basically the same concept to make the coasters in my previous post here. I also used an acrylic spray sealer after the final coat of mod podge to finish off each letter.
A couple of months ago, I purchased a super cute name tag for Drew's diaper bag from Etsy. After I received this awesome laminator for Christmas, I decided to design & laminate my own tags to give as gifts.
